Buzz Hill visited Nicaragua in 2018 with the nonprofit organization Compassion International. Upon returning home Buzz was haunted by the images of children sitting, eating, and playing on their dirt floors.

At this time Buzz was in a Bible study with two close friends, Richard Green, and David Young. The Bible study was about God’s purpose for your life and how He reveals purpose using different methods. Buzz, David, and Richard decided God wanted them to not only help eradicate dirt floors in Latin America but also help other men discover their purpose. They then began the nonprofit Terra Firma Floors. Terra Firma means solid ground in Spanish, and they hope that Terra Firma floors will provide a solid floor for God’s purposes.
